Growing your very own bouquet garden can be easy
Nothing makes me happier than growing plants that I can make a bouquet out of to bring inside. Flowers cheer me up so much that I’ve been known to carry my mason jar bouquet from room to room with me. Here are some great plants to grow to make bouquets!
Black eyed susan
Echinacea
Daisy
Zinnias
Cosmos
Sunflowers
Salvia
Verbena
Marigold
Hydrangea
Hosta
Heuchera
Great for Beginners- Wildflower Mixes
Look for ones with native flowers to avoid introducing an invasive species. Vermont Wildflower Farm is one of my favorite places to buy great quality mixes. I spread these seeds in early spring, weeded the patch occasionally and did nothing else. It’s been gorgeous watching them bloom!
When your plants are flowering make a bouquet by clipping about 8-12 inches of flower and stem off a large variety of your flowers. Strip the leaves off the stems and form the bouquet in your hand until it looks good. Put in a mason jar or vase with cold water. Change water daily.
