Digging Up Dahlias

Oct 16, 2012 | Blog

Want to know about digging up dahlias this fall? Growing dahlias can be a treat! If you want to guarantee your dahlias will return next spring dig them up after they die back. The plants will be brown and dry when ready for digging. Cut the tops off and dig 8-12 inches around the plant based to uncover the tubers. You can then place your dahlias in a container with potting soil or wrap them with saran wrap and store them in a cool, dark, dry place over winter. For more information on all aspects of dahlia growing visit the American Dahlia Society at www.dahlia.com!
