Peaceful Haven for Your Own Backyard

We love creating spaces that inspire our clients to relax and enjoy themselves in their backyards. It is important for everyone to have some down time enjoying nature, reading, drinking wine with friends and enjoying the sights, sounds and smells in your own backyard peaceful haven. Here is my recipe for developing a plan for a great backyard:

1. A variety of low maintenance plants for interest in all seasons

Berries for birds and beauty in winter

Fragrant spring flowering shrubs and bulbs

Bright and profuse summer flowers

Plants that showcase spectacular fall color displays

2. A water feature

This can be as simple as a small table top water fountain. You could also enjoy a waterfall cascading into a pond, attracting wildlife and having fish or frogs. A fountain for waterfall adds a peaceful sound to your yard make it easier to relax.

3. A sitting area the appropriate size for your needs

A bench in the garden might be enough. Many people enjoy having stone patios with outdoor seating for dinners and entertainment. How about a screened in porch or gazebo for avoiding mosquitos? We have a seated area around a firepit for campfire family nights or parties.Newly Planted Relaxing Garden After

4. A pathway through the yard and garden

It’s nice to have a curvy pathway going from your house through your yard and the garden. The pathway leads your eye through the garden while also functioning as a peaceful place to stroll through your yard. This can be as simple as a flagstone stepping stone pathway where the stone is halfway buried in the grass.
