Natural Weed Control- Keeping up with the weeds!
Now that the spring planting and mulching rush is winding down it’s time to get those weeds under control! If you don’t bite the bullet now it’s going to get really hot and you won’t feel like doing it later in the season. Then the weeds will take over your gardens and you’ll have to look at those pesky weeds (while sitting inside in the AC) all summer.
Here are some tips to help you with natural weed control.
Step 1- Weed all weeds in your garden beds by the root
Step 2- Edge all beds so that adjacent grass and weeds do not grow into the bed
Step 3- Make sure all grassy areas are mowed to the right height- not too low and not too high- to discourage weed growth in lawn that spreads to your garden beds
Step 4- Weed whack any areas overgrown with weeds before the weeds flower and go to seed
Step 5- Make sure your garden beds are mulched and remember that the optimal time for mulching is late winter before the weeds start growing (but better late than never)
